Acer, one of the largest and most successful technology companies in the world, announced today the name and specs of it’s first new smart phone, the Acer Liquid. The Acer Liquid is a smart phone that will run on Google’s Android 1.6 operating system, nicknamed ‘Donut’.

One of the most spectacular features of the Acer Liquid is its powerful Snapdragon chipset that will have the phone running at 1GhZ speed. The even more impressive feature is the 800 x 480 WVGA screen that the Acer Liquid will come with. This is a first for any mobile, and while more established cell phone makers such as HTC were expected to bring this kind of innovation, it was once again the innovative and commercially minded Taiwanese company that came with the first punch.

You might remember several years ago, Acer released the Mini EePC which completely destroyed the competition and created a whole new market. Acer’s combination of affordability, with technological prowess, and alongside its market-in approach really is a combination that companies are starting to fear.

This time around with the Acer’s Liquid Android Phone, Apple and its super successful iPhone line should be the ones who need to watchout. The Liquid, besides its powerful chipset and knockout screen, also has a few other tricks up its sleeve. The Acer Liquid camera will have ISO levels as well as the very cool ability to record geo-positions into pictures in the form of tags. This will be done through Acer Liquid’s GPRS system and will no doubt be loved by photo enthusiasts who can’t get enough of Flickr. Speaking of which, the Acer Phone will allow you to integrate your contacts list with your social networking profiles such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and all the other social media networks that you belong too.

The Acer Android Liquid will also allow its user to make the most of its spinlets application – which lets users stream videos and music free of charge. Perhaps this powerful phone will also allow the thousands of Android developers to get a bit more creative and create some more impressive games for the Acer Liquid and its powerful hardware specs.

Acer didn’t set a release date yet for this gorgeous phone, but it will most probably come out some time in 2010. The price could be a point of concern, given all the technological wonders built into this phone, but its quite safe to say that it won’t break the bank because Acer is a company that always manages to keep its prices respectable. Think of the Mini EEPC if you’re convinced.

That wraps up this first preview be sure to stayed tuned for more Acer Liquid news and reviews as get them.
